Barberini

The BARBERINI family was Italian nobility who rose from Florentine merchants to the Papal seat in the 17th-century. Their Roman palazzo was completed by the celebrated Baroque sculptor and architect Bernini in 1633 and featured a dramatic secret garden concealed from the streets. The pattern’s oversized flowers and dramatic foliage elegantly dominate the field of rich color, conjuring the sweet smells of the garden. Notice the fleur-de-lis, a nod to the family’s humble roots in Florence.
