The BARBERINI family was Italian nobility who rose from Florentine merchants to the Papal seat in the 17th-century. Their Roman palazzo was completed by the celebrated Baroque sculptor and architect Bernini in 1633 and featured a dramatic secret garden concealed from the streets. The pattern’s oversized flowers and dramatic foliage elegantly dominate the field of rich color, conjuring the sweet smells of the garden.
