PERSEPOLIS, the ceremonial capital of the ancient Persian empire built by Darius the Great, continued to captivate Mariano Fortuny’s imagination years later, inspiring this whimsical and spirited pattern filled with sensual Persian floral, leaf, and pomegranate motifs.
