The Neapolitan Baroque painter Francesco SOLIMENA was an exceptionally popular artist in his time, amassing great wealth and patronage, especially from the future Pope Benedict XIII and King Louis XIV of France. SOLIMENA painted many frescoes, altarpieces, and mythological subjects that were marked for their theatrical drama.
