Laotze
Mare monotones
5892
Repetition, symmetry, and rhythm are the language of the ancient Chinese philosopher LAOTZE and the Tao Te Ching, which he is credited with authoring. This bold curling and scrolling cloud-like pattern, designed by Mariano Fortuny in 1933, seems to expel LAOTZE’s ancient Chinese philosophy in a low thunder.

Are you a creative professional interested in working with Fortuny?
Fortuny is represented by agents around the globe.
Invented in Venice. Made in Venice
Designed with the italian touch, from start to finish. Built on the grounds of an ancient convent, the inner workings of the factory remain secret 100 years later. Our founder's will holds that the techniques used to create the iconic fabrics were never to be revealed publicly.
FORTUNY’S METHODS ARE PASSED DOWN AMONG GENERATIONS OF ARTISTS WHO CONTINUE CREATING NEW WORK WITH THE TECHNIQUES AND MACHINES FROM OUR FOUNDING.
